The Cure’s vision has been masterful from the very start, and the band’s melodic, mournful pop has become a musical right of passage to the world of rock n roll. Since their emergence in the late 1970s, The Cure has created music that has both given form to and disintegrated genre.

Reimagine Music is pleased present the latest tribute project, Love Cats: A Tribute to the Cure, a new collection of recordings by a select few of the best in indie rock including Tancred, The Crookes, Minipop, Canopy Climbers, Sealions, Hayley Richman, Worm Is Green, Dowsing, Grace Kelly, The Hotelier, Woodpigeon, and The Guessing Game. Each group plays their own version of these adored songs with a stirring sense of confidence, and the resulting tracks vary in both depth and approach.

The strength of excellent music can be found in its many interpretations, and Reimagine Music pays homage to decades of influential rock music by gathering talented lineups to perform influential works. Lee Zimmerman in Pop Matters recently wrote of Reimagine Music’s Smiths’ tribute that “the emphasis is on experimentation…the overall effect is simply to show the diversity of a catalogue in ways that have rarely been explored before.” Reimagine is working to keep the cultural flame alive, introducing profound, important musical works to a younger audience that may otherwise never get to experience it.

Los Angeles Times has called producer Jim Sampas “the thinking person’s producer…who has a knack for sticking out of the pack.” Sampas’ other projects include celebrations to Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan,The Beatles, Bessie Smith, Jack Kerouac, The Rolling Stones, and The Smiths.
